In a mixed age group set up, children are engaged purposefully in a variety of activities by AMI certified Pre-primary (3-6) and Elementary (6-12) teachers who guide the classroom through materials and experiments. Classes are conducted with flexible timings for children to attend sessions 4 to 5 times a week.
Experiential hands-on learning Montessori materials for all subjects are presented through an approach to education advocated by Dr. Montessori for children aged 3 to 6 years to provide for the Absorbent mind and from 6 to 12 years as Cosmic Education.
Infant and toddler program: (A plastic diaper free environment)
It is a gentle expectation from interested families to completely refrain from use of diapers and help babies and infants express their toilet needs, by providing them the convenience and time for arriving at a rhythm without rushing or coercion.
We offer a cosy place for infants and their moms to visit and participate in a few activities together or alone, for a time period at the comfort of the child.
For children who are over 1 years it is an expectation that the child is able to move around and connect with the adult in the environment and is willing to let the parent be seated outside. 1 to 2 hours of engagement to start with is what happens here with a few children of mixed ages between 1 to 2 years. Cloth diapers are recommended during the process of toilet training. Keen participation of the parents in helping the child gain confidence towards self sufficiency in addressing these issues is necessary.
For children over 2 years, complete weaning from mothers milk in a natural way is good for them to move from their parent’s side and seek to explore the material in the environment, with the help of the adult guide. Toilet training is a must at this stage with either potty or a small sized toilet at home, which facilitates use of the seats in our environment. Ability to stay away from parents for a time period that can increase after the settling in, is desirable. Also independence built in terms of eating and clothing oneself is desirable.
The place is arranged with select Montessori infant and toddler material with a few equipment for gross and fine motor coordination.
We also offer a two module parenting workshop for aspiring families and parents of new borns. A parent of CASCADE is in training for the modular International AMI 0 to 3 Assistants to Infancy course in April 2019-20 and will be in charge for the environment under our guidance.
